Trees

spent the day with two artist friends--we call our meetings Second Saturdays and we meet monthly to talk about art, share what we're working on, and to critique each other. 

I was so inspired to see their work & talk about what we're all doing. This little piece is still a work-in-progress. It started out as an ink and brush drawing. After meeting with Donna and Tommie Sue, I added gell medium and watercolor washes. Not sure where else it's going, but it's going to keep going.

Roxie times three

Well, for the second time I applied to Women Artists of the West, a group that I admire and would love to be a part of, but I was rejected once again. This is one of the images that I sent. I'm not going to give up--I'll keep working toward that goal. This is an oil on canvas, Dancing to a Silent Tune. It's actually an image of my horse Roxie times three. Went riding yesterday for the first time in a month. The weather was perfect, about 65--beautiful day and a great time spent with Roxie!

My Sisters and Me

My Sisters and Me, an oil on gallery-wrapped canvas, is a work-in-progress. When I paint or draw, things sometimes appear in threes and that always represents my sisters and me. I don't usually do a painting specifically of us...but this one just happened.

Work-in-Progress

I've been working but have several works-in-progress including this one, watercolor on full sheet of watercolor paper, and the following piece. This is titled "Your Invisible Fence is Showing." I'm enjoying working on several pieces at the same time--keeps me on my brush!

Rooster

just finished this piece--a watercolor on heavy watercolor paper, 5" x 7". It's headed to the Hoover Watercolor show in Shreveport.

Weathervane

I made a few changes and completed the painting. Weathervane will be hanging at Ouachita River Art Gallery during June and July. (watercolor on stretched watercolor canvas, gallery-wrapped, 12" x 12").

Joyce in the Garden

Joyce in the Garden is a small watercolor on watercolor board. It needs a little more tweaking...but I'll let it rest for awhile.

Weathervane (a work-in-progress)

 Weathervane is a 12" x 12" watercolor on Always brand stretched, gallery-wrapped canvas for watercolor. It's a work-in-progress. I'll put this one aside for a bit & look at it in a few days with fresh eyes--that way, I'll be able to "see" the image clearer and hopefully know which direction (a little pun!) to take it.

Spinning

Spinning is a 5" x 7" watercolor on Aquabord. Not sure how far I want to take this, so I'll let it rest for awhile.

Gracie's New Baby

A quick, very small 4-1/2" x 3-1/2", watercolor of Gracie's new little baby boy. New colt's are so awkward looking, a little clutzy, and soooo cute!

Blend of the Bayou

I'll be at the Blend of the Bayou today, a fundraiser for the Northeast LA Arts Council. I'll be selling commissions of people and pets. Hope to do well because part of sales goes to the Council. The Blend is a wonderful fundraiser. Various men from the area cook their specialties, and we artists set up to have our works bid on by guests. Lots of food, fun, drinks, music--Louisiana style!

ACEO's

One White Horse, along with four other ACEO's is being mailed off today for the Canine Art Guild's ACEO challenge "Flower Power". True, these are not dogs, but we celebrate all animals. I even sent along a chicken! ACEO stands for "Artist Cards, Editions, & Originals" and the only rule is that the card size must be 2.5" x 3.5". This drawing is an original ink pen and watercolor.

Arts Market in New Orleans

This weekend I'm headed to Arts Market (Saturday, 10am-4pm) in New Orleans, sponsored by the Arts Council of New Orleans. Hopefully we don't get rained out. I'm taking lots of small works with images of horses, dogs, cats, and the occasional person...see you there!

Carousel

Carousel is a small ink pen drawing with watercolor. It will be made into greeting cards and sold in my Etsy shop to help the Louisiana Horse Rescue group.

Oh, Bull...

a work in progress, watercolor on 1/2 sheet watercolor paper...this is probably headed toward mixed media. I'm thinking of adding C'aron water soluble crayons and let what happens happen.

Art Show at the Dog Show

Almost Saintly, a Prismacolor drawing, was accepted along with three other pieces into the National Juried Art Show at the Dog Show!

Cat Movements

finally getting some artwork done--we're completely moved into our new home now & our studio is finally finished, so let the work begin! yea! I've missed having a place to work. This piece is an ink drawing from life of two of my cats as they hung out together on the bed. They rolled around next to each other, fussed with each other, and eventually hissed at each other and stalking off in opposite directions.
