This small mixed media piece is titled Van Gogh's Horse because something about it reminded me of van Gogh's work, probably the trees. A work-in-progress, watercolor on Rives BFK, 22" x 30", & a difficult piece to shoot. I started this one several months ago & put it aside--now, I'm trying to finish it, along with several others that I've started: at least two oils, two watercolors, and a couple of drawings.
This image was my least favorite of the Sun Horse series that I've been working on, but when I framed it today, it looked pretty good! Amazing how a frame can help complete the work. Don't I Know You, a graphite drawing, sold today to a lady in Arizona! I love that it's found a home and someone appreciates it. The story behind this drawing: When I first brought my horse Roxie to her new home, she was exploring the pasture. I, of course, was taking picture after picture. A little Boston Terrier from next door happened to run into the pasture, and they both stopped to look at each other. I thought it was so interesting that they were both patterned in black and white, so I combined a couple of pictures to create this image--maybe they recognized each other...just a moment in time.

spent the day with two artist friends--we call our meetings Second Saturdays and we meet monthly to talk about art, share what we're working on, and to critique each other.

I was so inspired to see their work & talk about what we're all doing. This little piece is still a work-in-progress. It started out as an ink and brush drawing. After meeting with Donna and Tommie Sue, I added gell medium and watercolor washes. Not sure where else it's going, but it's going to keep going.

Well, for the second time I applied to Women Artists of the West, a group that I admire and would love to be a part of, but I was rejected once again. This is one of the images that I sent. I'm not going to give up--I'll keep working toward that goal. This is an oil on canvas, Dancing to a Silent Tune. It's actually an image of my horse Roxie times three. Went riding yesterday for the first time in a month. The weather was perfect, about 65--beautiful day and a great time spent with Roxie!
My Sisters and Me, an oil on gallery-wrapped canvas, is a work-in-progress. When I paint or draw, things sometimes appear in threes and that always represents my sisters and me. I don't usually do a painting specifically of us...but this one just happened.
