Saintly

Just a sneak preview of a detail of what I'm sending to CPSA competition. I'm running very close to the deadline but should have it finished & entered soon. I scanned the progression of the work & will post that as soon as the artwork's entered. (Prismacolor on Stonehenge paper)

Saintly Model

This drawing I really enjoyed. Minnie was finally snoring loudly, deep asleep, so not moving. I was able to draw carefully with an ink pen w/staff and a bottle of ink. It had been a very long time since I'd practiced this. Again, there's no pre-drawing with a pencil, just concentration and observation. Each stroke counts, but I was loving the feel of the medium.

Here's Minnie, new position, but snoring again. This is bamboo brush with ink. I loved returning to a medium that I used to use. It's great for reconnecting with drawing skills because each stroke must be "seen" on the paper ahead of time. There's no pre-drawing in pencil here, just ink & brush & observation of the model.

Minnie finally settles into a position, snoring, presenting herself as a great model. This is Ebony pencil on drawing paper.

Saint Asleep, as model

Minnie, our St. Bernard, acting as my model as I work in Conte' Crayon. She began to shift around, so I abandoned this drawing.

Poodle

This fellow was snoozing between shows at a dog show I visited a few months ago.
